The evolution of hydrocarbon
absorption

T1 Solutions FF (FOAMFLEX) mats are the ideal solution for cleaning oil and other hydrocarbon spills in oceans, rivers, and other bodies of water. Thanks to FOAMFLEX technology, our product is able to absorb up to 35 times its own weight of hydrocarbons of different densities, with rapid absorption between 38 seconds and a few minutes, and a high overall absorption capacity of about 6 tonnes per kg of mat.

FF (FOAMFLEX) is a 95% hydrophobic and oleophilic material, characterized by a low specific weight of about 30 kg/m3 and the ability to be reused up to 200 times, maintaining the absorption performance unaltered at each cycle.

The FF 5.0 mat is particularly suitable for massive spills of over 1 cm, thanks to the greater height that allows for greater absorption per single mat with a simultaneous slowing of the absorption kinetics. These characteristics allow FF 5.0 to fulfill two functions simultaneously: absorbent and containment, halfway between a barrier and an absorbent/skimmer.

The FF 2.5 mat, on the other hand, is suitable for all spill oil that requires rapid oil absorption and equally rapid recovery with squeezing and reuse. The absorbent mats are available in two versions differentiated by the possibility of reuse: Heavy versions with 200 reuses and Light versions with 30 reuses.

Our FF (FOAMFLEX) mats can be used in any climatic condition, wind, and current, and are tested in waters of different temperatures ranging from 4 to 30 degrees Celsius. They are able to float even when fully saturated with the product, retain hydrocarbons for long periods of time, and allow for recovery of the spilled hydrocarbon almost intact with an additional saving as the economic value of what was spilled is not lost.

Le membrane assorbenti sono tra i sistemi più semplici ed efficaci per il recupero del surnatante all’interno dei piezometri e pozzi.
Tradizionalmente le calze assorbenti selettive sono inserite all’interno di una gabbia di acciaio inox calata all’interno del piezometro per funzionare come uno “skimmer” semplificato.
Test1, società operante nell’Oil Spill Response, ha applicato il proprio materiale brevettato FoamFlex200 all’interno delle tradizionali membrane assorbenti. Questo ha consentito lo sviluppo di membrane assorbenti altamente performanti e riutilizzabili.

Caratteristiche Tecniche

Capacità di assorbimento dell’olio fino a 12 volte il proprio peso. Performance di assorbimento degli idrocarburi incrementate fino a 3.5 volte rispetto alle membrane tradizionali.

Elevata velocità di saturazione (stimabile anche in pochi minuti) e conseguente rapida riduzione del surnatante presente.

Riduzione del recupero di acqua fino al 95% rispetto alle membrane tradizionali. In presenza di surnatante superiore a 40 cm è possibile raggiungere assorbimento di acqua pari a 0 g/g.

Riutilizzabile: le membrane FoamFlex-Geo possono essere strizzate (tramite apposito macchinario) e riutilizzate fino a 10 volte.

Riduzione dello spessore del surnatante sino a 0 cm in pochi passaggi.

Riduzione dei rifiuti solidi e liquidi generati e conseguente riduzione dei costi economici ed ambientali.

Sostituzione del Bailer. La bonifica tramite Bailer genera elevate quantità di rifiuto liquido, prevalentemente composto da H20. In presenza, ad esempio, di 2 cm di surnatante, possono essere necessari anche 15/20 passaggi tramite Bailer, generando ad ogni passaggio rifiuto liquido. La membrana FoamFlex-Geo svolge la stessa funzione del Bailer in un unico passaggio, con recupero di acqua molto limitato.

Our product has been tested on different types of oils and hydrocarbons in variable salinity and water temperature conditions, highlighting an absorbent capacity that improves proportionally to the increase in the viscosity of the spilled product. Additionally, FF (FOAMFLEX) exploits the entire absorbent surface in the presence of waves, significantly increasing the kinetics of diesel absorption.
