Compressors, used in most industrial processes, produce condensate - a mixture of water and contaminants such as oil particles. This type of condensate, if not properly removed, represents a serious risk to the environment. Condensate, containing both water and oil, cannot be directly discharged into the sewer system without first reducing the oil content below the legal limit. Draining untreated condensate containing compressor lubricant oil is not only harmful to the environment, but also illegal (criminal offense). There are stringent regulations for the treatment of wastewater in Europe, where the maximum allowable concentration of oil in discharged condensate is indicated: emission limit values in surface waters and in sewers are 5 mg/l for discharge into surface waters and 10 mg/l for discharge into the sewer network. The compressor waste is therefore discharged into the sewer network and must comply with the regulations.

T1 Solutions has patented FF (FOAMFLEX) as a replacement product that is more effective than polypropylene in the remediation of oil spills at sea and on land. Starting from this concept, the company wanted to experiment with the ability of FF (FOAMFLEX) to filter oil from water, as a replacement product for polypropylene and activated carbon, in the field of oil filtering from water.

OCF is easy to install in any housing already in the customer's possession, and avoids the use of expensive activated carbon, which is present in many commercial systems. In addition, thanks to the ability to absorb any type of hydrocarbon for about 30/32 times its own weight, it reduces the risk of spillage and clogging compared to many commercial systems.

Le membrane assorbenti sono tra i sistemi più semplici ed efficaci per il recupero del surnatante all’interno dei piezometri e pozzi.
Tradizionalmente le calze assorbenti selettive sono inserite all’interno di una gabbia di acciaio inox calata all’interno del piezometro per funzionare come uno “skimmer” semplificato.
Test1, società operante nell’Oil Spill Response, ha applicato il proprio materiale brevettato FoamFlex200 all’interno delle tradizionali membrane assorbenti. Questo ha consentito lo sviluppo di membrane assorbenti altamente performanti e riutilizzabili.

Riduzione del recupero di acqua fino al 95% rispetto alle membrane tradizionali. In presenza di surnatante superiore a 40 cm è possibile raggiungere assorbimento di acqua pari a 0 g/g.

Riutilizzabile: le membrane FoamFlex-Geo possono essere strizzate (tramite apposito macchinario) e riutilizzate fino a 10 volte.

Sostituzione del Bailer. La bonifica tramite Bailer genera elevate quantità di rifiuto liquido, prevalentemente composto da H20. In presenza, ad esempio, di 2 cm di surnatante, possono essere necessari anche 15/20 passaggi tramite Bailer, generando ad ogni passaggio rifiuto liquido. La membrana FoamFlex-Geo svolge la stessa funzione del Bailer in un unico passaggio, con recupero di acqua molto limitato.
